Welcome to our site

Northwoods Yorkies is a small home-based operation where our goal is to raise the healthiest, most loveable Yorkies with personality plus!

We have been breeding Yorkies for 27 years and never had a disappointed customer. We are very careful to try to match our puppies to loving homes, taking into account the puppy's needs as well as the family's.

Our Yorkies range from 5-7 lbs. These babies are born in our bedroom in Maine. They stay there under our watchful eyes in a playpen until their eyes open and they start getting around. We also have a playpen set up in the living room, where we bring them in the afternoon to get them used to be around people during the day. At night, it is playtime on the bed -  that’s our favorite time!  We put a blanket on the bed, they try walking all around, and they just love playing with cotton scrunchies!  Once their eyes open, they grow so fast!  We treat each and every puppy like they are one of the family, simply because we don’t believe you can spoil a Yorkie too much.

We try to match the baby to the family, and we have had a VERY high success rate...almost 100%!

Yorkies are not toys for kids to play with; they need a lot of care, especially grooming.  If you are looking for a toy, it is likely that we will not sell a puppy to you, as we want to ensure that the decision to sell is good for both you and the puppy.  We also make sure that our puppies are thoroughly checked by Dr. Joseph Nesin in Chester, Maine. When it comes time to find our puppies homes, if we can not find homes in Maine, we look for homes near our Southern Branch in Sayreville, NJ, where medical matters are handled by Dr. Joseph Chiosi in Sayreville, NJ, on an as-needed basis. (Northwoods Yorkies has a long-standing relationship with Dr. Chiosi, and highly recommends him and his staff for your veterinary needs.)

All our puppies come with AKC Registration, are up to date on inoculations, and they have all been Vet examined to ensure that they are free of any genetic abnormalities.

We try to keep up on all health issues pertaining to Yorkies, and there is always something new to learn – no one has all the answers but just ask a Yorkie Breeder a question and if they don’t know the answer a GOOD Yorkie breeder will research it until they do.
